Learn Turkish: İptal edilen sponsorluk yüzünden taşeronlara plaket verilmeyecek. - Due to the cancelled sponsorship, plaques will not be given to the subcontractors.

iptal edilen is a passive relative participle. It comes from iptal etmek (to cancel), which becomes passive iptal edilmek (to be cancelled). We use the subject relative suffix -An because the noun it modifies, sponsorluk (sponsorship), is the grammatical subject of the passive verb. The sponsorship is the thing that was cancelled.

Why doesn't sponsorluk take a genitive suffix before yüzünden?

The postposition yüzünden (because of / due to) strictly requires the genitive case for pronouns, like benim yüzümden (because of me). For regular nouns, the genitive is technically correct but frequently dropped in everyday Turkish when referring to a general concept or a long descriptive noun phrase like iptal edilen sponsorluk, effectively treating it as a noun compound.

What are the suffixes on verilmeyecek?

It breaks down as ver (give) + -il (passive suffix: be given) + -me (negative suffix) + -y- (buffer letter) + -ecek (future tense suffix). Together, it means will not be given. Notice how both the main verb and the participle in this sentence use the passive -il suffix!

Why is taşeronlara in the dative case?
