Questions & Answers about Veri sızıntısını önlemek için antivirüs lazım.
Why is it sızıntısını with an extra -n- and -ı instead of just sızıntıyı?
Veri sızıntısı is a noun compound meaning "data leak," which automatically gets the compound possessive suffix -sı. Since the leak is the specific direct object being prevented by önlemek, it also needs the accusative case marker. When you add a case marker to a noun compound's -(s)i / -(s)ı suffix, you must always use the buffer letter -n-, making it sızıntı-sı-n-ı.
Why do we use the full infinitive önlemek before için here?
When you want to express "in order to do [something]" and the statement applies generally (or the subject is the same for both parts of the sentence), you simply use the dictionary infinitive form (-mak / -mek) followed directly by için.
This lesson is about the conjunction aksi takdirde (otherwise). How could we rewrite this sentence to use it?
Since this sentence tells us what is needed to prevent a bad outcome, you could state the requirement first, and then use aksi takdirde to introduce that negative consequence. For example: Antivirüs lazım, aksi takdirde veri sızıntısı olur. (An antivirus is needed, otherwise a data leak will occur.)
Could we use gerekiyor instead of lazım at the end of the sentence?
