Questions & Answers about Sabahtan beri tükenmişlik hissetmekten başka hiçbir şey yapmıyorum.
How does the phrase hissetmekten başka work here?
This is the structure for expressing 'other than doing X' or 'doing nothing but X'. We take the infinitive hissetmek (to feel), add the ablative case suffix -ten (becoming hissetmekten because 'k' is a hard consonant), and follow it with başka (other).
How is the word tükenmişlik (burnout) formed?
It is built from the verb tükenmek (to be depleted). The suffix -miş creates the adjective tükenmiş (exhausted), and the suffix -lik turns it into the abstract noun tükenmişlik (exhaustion or burnout).
Why does sabah take the -tan suffix in sabahtan beri?
The postposition beri (since) always requires the preceding noun to be in the ablative case (the 'from' case). So, sabah (morning) must become sabahtan to correctly say 'since morning'.
Why is the verb yapmıyorum negative when the English translation says 'doing nothing'?
In Turkish, negative pronouns and adjectives like hiçbir şey (nothing / not anything) must always be paired with a negative verb. That is why the sentence ends with yapmıyorum (I am not doing) instead of a positive verb.
