Questions & Answers about Yaklaşık iki üç gün yağmur yağdıktan sonra ormanda yenilebilir mantarlar çıkar.
Why isn't there a word for "or" between iki and üç?
In Turkish, placing two sequential numbers right next to each other, like iki üç, naturally means "two or three." You don't need to add a word like veya (or) to show it is an estimate.
Is yaklaşık required if iki üç already implies an estimate?
No, it isn't strictly required. You can use iki üç gün on its own. Adding yaklaşık (approximately) just provides extra emphasis, making the phrase translate nicely to "for about two or three days."
Why is gün singular when the sentence talks about multiple days?
This is a strict rule in Turkish: nouns that directly follow a number or a numerical estimate must always remain singular. That is why it is iki üç gün and never iki üç günler.
Why does the sentence use yağdıktan sonra instead of just yağmurdan sonra?
Yağmurdan sonra means "after the rain" using a noun. This sentence emphasizes the action of raining for a specific duration. To say "after doing an action," you attach the suffix -dıktan sonra to the verb root, which in this case is yağmak (to rain).
