Why is it konu hakkında instead of hakkında konu?
In English, words like "about" are prepositions and go before the noun. In Turkish, they are called postpositions and go after the noun. So "about the topic" translates literally as "topic about" (konu hakkında).
Does the word konu need any special case endings here?
Not for regular nouns! When using hakkında with a standard noun like konu, the noun stays in its plain dictionary form. However, if you want to use pronouns like "about me" or "about you", they do take special endings (for example, benim hakkımda).
How is the verb konuşuyoruz built?
It starts with the root konuş- (to speak or talk). Then we add the present continuous tense marker -uyor- (showing the action is happening right now), and finally the "we" personal ending -uz.
Why is the personal ending -uz and not -iz?
Because of 4-way vowel harmony! The vowel in the personal ending must harmonize with the vowel right before it. The last vowel in konuşuyor is the o in -yor-. Since o always pairs with u in these endings, the suffix becomes -uz. Because the present continuous tense always uses -yor-, the "we" ending for this tense will always be -uz.
