To make a verb negative, we usually add -ma or -me. However, when the present continuous suffix -yor comes right after a syllable ending in a or e, that vowel narrows to ı, i, u, or ü. Because of this rule, al-ma-yor-uz changes to almıyoruz.

Does almıyoruz mean "we are not taking" or "we do not take"?

It can mean both! The Turkish present continuous tense (using the -yor suffix) is often used for general habits, similar to the English simple present, as well as actions happening right now.

I thought almak meant "to buy". Why does it translate to "taking" here?

The verb almak is very versatile. It can mean "to buy", "to take", "to get", or "to receive". The exact meaning depends on the context. With the word para (money), translating it as "taking" or "receiving" usually makes the most sense.

Why don't we need the word biz (we) at the beginning of the sentence?

The personal ending -uz attached to almıyoruz already tells us the subject is "we". You only need to add the pronoun biz at the start if you want to add extra emphasis to who is doing the action.
