Questions & Answers about Uyumadan önce huzur bulmak için yoga yaparım.
How exactly does uyumadan önce mean "before sleeping"?
To say "before doing [action]" in Turkish, you take the verb root and add the suffix -madan or -meden, followed by the word önce. For the verb uyumak (to sleep), the root is uyu-. Because its last vowel is 'u', it takes -madan due to vowel harmony. So, uyumadan önce translates to "before sleeping" or "before I sleep."
How do we know who is the one sleeping if there is no "ben" (I) in the sentence?
The personal ending -ım on the final verb yaparım (I do) tells us the subject is "I". In Turkish, structures like uyumadan önce don't need their own person markers; it is automatically understood that the person sleeping is the same person doing the main action at the end of the sentence.
Why do we use the dictionary form bulmak right before için?
When you want to express purpose, like "in order to do something," you use the full infinitive form of the verb (ending in -mak or -mek) followed by için. Therefore, huzur bulmak için means "in order to find peace."
Why does the sentence use yaparım instead of the continuous tense yapıyorum?
