Questions & Answers about O şoför mü?
Why is the question word mü here instead of mı?
The question particle follows 4-way vowel harmony. Since the last vowel in şoför is ö, the question particle must be mü.
The English translation says "a driver", but there is no bir in the Turkish sentence. Why?
In Turkish, you usually don't use bir (a/an) when stating someone's profession. You just say "He driver" (O şoför).
How do we know O means "he" and not "she"?
Turkish doesn't have gendered pronouns. O can mean "he", "she", or "it". You would know which one it is from the surrounding conversation.
Where is the word for "is" in this sentence?
For "he", "she", or "it" sentences in the present tense, the verb "to be" is invisible. You just put the subject (O) and the noun (şoför) together, and add the question particle (mü) to make it a question.
