Questions & Answers about Bu araba, şu araba kadar hızlı.
I thought we were learning 'daha' (more) for comparisons. Why is 'kadar' used here instead?
Why is there a comma after 'Bu araba'?
In Turkish, a comma is frequently used right after the subject of the sentence to separate it from the rest of the words. This makes the sentence easier to read and prevents confusion, especially here where you have two cars (bu araba and şu araba) very close to each other in the sentence.
Why use 'şu' for "that" car instead of 'o'?
Both şu and o mean "that", but they have a slight difference. Şu is generally used when you are physically pointing at something or drawing someone's attention to it right in front of you. O is usually for things that are further away or out of sight.
Where is the word for "is" in this sentence?
There isn't one! In basic Turkish sentences with a "he/she/it" subject (like "this car"), you don't need a separate verb for "is". Simply placing the adjective hızlı (fast) at the end of the sentence is perfectly complete and automatically translates to "is fast".
