Learn Turkish: Biz mayıs ve haziran aylarında tatil yapıyoruz.

In Turkish, months and days of the week are only capitalized if they are part of a specific, exact date (like 19 Mayıs). When just talking about the month in general, they are written in lowercase.

Why do we add "aylarında" after the months? Can't we just say "mayıs ve haziranda"?

You actually can say mayıs ve haziranda (in May and June)! However, it is very common and natural in Turkish to add the word for month and say "in the months of May and June", which becomes mayıs ve haziran aylarında.

How does the word "aylarında" break down into suffixes?

It starts with ay (month) and lar (plural). The -ı links it to the specific month names, the -n- is a buffer letter to make pronunciation easier, and the -da means "in". Together, they form "in the months of".

Why does the sentence use the verb "yapıyoruz" (we are making)?

While English speakers "take" a vacation, Turkish speakers "make" a vacation. The word tatil (vacation) always pairs with the verb yapmak (to do/make). Also, Turkish often uses the present continuous tense (-yor-) for regular habits, which is why it translates here as "we take".
