Why is it otelde instead of just otel?

The -de at the end of otelde is a locative suffix meaning "at," "in," or "on." You need to add it to show where the staying is happening, so otel (hotel) becomes otelde (at the hotel).

Why does the continuous suffix start with an "ı" in kalıyoruz instead of an "i"?
