Why is "cold" translated as an action word ending in "-yor"?
In English, we say someone "is cold" using an adjective. In Turkish, feeling cold is an actual verb: üşümek. So, üşüyor literally means "is feeling cold".
How is the present continuous suffix "-yor" attached to this verb?
The root of the verb is üşü-. Because it already ends in a vowel (ü), we do not need to add an extra connecting vowel. We simply add -yor directly to the root to make üşüyor.
Why is the question word "mu" and not "mü"?
The question particle always changes its vowel to match the last vowel of the word right before it. The last vowel in üşüyor is o. According to Turkish vowel harmony rules, an o must be followed by a u, which gives us mu.
