Questions & Answers about เรา วิ่ง ไป ที่ เกต ก็เลย ขึ้นเครื่อง ทัน ครับ

Why is ทัน placed at the very end of the sentence?
In Thai, ทัน (in time) acts as a resultative verb. It always comes after the main action verb and its object to show that the action was completed before a deadline. Here, it follows ขึ้นเครื่อง (board the plane) to show that the successful result of boarding happened before the flight left.
What does ขึ้นเครื่อง literally mean?
It literally translates to 'go up the machine.' The word ขึ้น means 'to ascend' or 'to get on a vehicle,' and เครื่อง (machine) is a very common everyday abbreviation for เครื่องบิน (airplane). Together, they simply mean 'to board a plane.'
Why do we say วิ่งไป instead of just วิ่ง?
Thai frequently pairs action verbs with directional verbs. Adding ไป (to go) after วิ่ง (to run) clearly shows the direction of the movement: running away from the starting point and towards the destination (ที่เกต, to the gate).
I know เลย means 'so', but why is it ก็เลย here?
ก็เลย and เลย both mean 'so' or 'therefore' to show a cause and effect. Adding ก็ makes it sound a bit more natural and conversational when linking two clauses together. Notice that as a linking word, it is placed right before the result verb (ขึ้นเครื่อง).
