Describing Actions vs. Evaluating Results
Some actions are described directly by placing an adjective right after the verb:
| We clap very loudly. | พวก เรา ปรบมือ ดัง มาก ครับ |
However, to evaluate the quality or skill of a performance, Thai uses ได้ before the adjective.
[Action Verb] + ได้ + [Adjective]
| Today the circus performs amazingly. | วันนี้ ละครสัตว์ แสดง ได้ น่าทึ่ง ค่ะ |
| The acrobat balances very well. | นักกายกรรม ทรงตัว ได้ เก่ง มาก ค่ะ |
Adding Objects and Context
If the action involves an object or location, complete the action phrase first:
[Action Verb] + [Object/Location] + ได้ + [Adjective]
| The clown tosses the ball very smoothly. | ตัวตลก โยน ลูกบอล ได้ คล่อง มาก ครับ |
| The acrobat walks on the rope smoothly. | นักกายกรรม เดิน บน เชือก ได้ คล่อง ครับ |
Asking About Performance
To ask a yes/no question about a performance, place the question word (like หรือเปล่า) at the very end of the sentence.
| Does the acrobat perform beautifully? | นักกายกรรม แสดง ได้ สวย หรือเปล่า คะ |
| Does he toss three toys accurately? | เขา โยน ของเล่น สาม ชิ้น ได้ แม่นยำ หรือเปล่า คะ |
