Questions & Answers about Arrangören ville inte ens se talangjakten.
Why is inte ens placed right between ville and se?
In a standard Swedish main clause, sentence adverbs like inte ens (not even) go directly after the first, conjugated verb (ville) and before any additional non-finite verbs (se). It moves into the standard adverb position as a complete unit.
Can I separate inte and ens, for example by putting ens at the very end of the sentence?
No, you should keep them together here. When expressing 'not even', inte and ens function as a single focus particle. Splitting them up in this context would sound highly unnatural to a native speaker.
What is the literal translation of the compound word talangjakten?
It translates literally to 'the talent hunt', combining talang (talent) and jakten (the hunt). This is the standard Swedish term for a talent show.
Why isn't there an att (to) before the infinitive verb se?
The verb vilja (here in the past tense as ville) is a modal verb. In Swedish, modal verbs are followed directly by the bare infinitive of the next verb, meaning you must drop the att.
