Questions & Answers about Jag fakturerar inte extra i den mån jag kan undvika det.
Is the word som missing after i den mån?
The word som is completely optional in the phrase i den mån (som). Dropping it is very common in both everyday speech and writing, much like dropping "that" in English ("to the extent I can avoid it").
Could I use så långt instead of i den mån in this sentence?
Yes, så långt (som) (as far as) would also work and means practically the same thing. However, i den mån is a bit more formal and is a great fit for professional or business contexts, which matches the verb fakturerar (invoice).
Why does inte come after the verb fakturerar if i den mån introduces a subordinate clause?
The first part of the sentence, Jag fakturerar inte extra, is the main clause, so inte goes in its normal spot after the verb. The subordinate clause (where the BIFF rule would apply, placing inte before the verb) doesn't start until i den mån, and in this specific sentence, there is no negation in that second half anyway.
What exactly is det referring to at the end of the sentence?
