Questions & Answers about Modulen verkar kompatibel, men den låter sig inte integreras.
Why does this sentence use the s-passive integreras instead of just integrera after låter sig?
The construction låta sig is almost always followed by an s-passive infinitive when you want to express that something 'can be done' to the subject. Literally, it translates to 'lets itself be integrated'. If you used the active integrera, it would incorrectly imply that the module itself is actively trying to integrate another object.
What is the difference in feeling between den låter sig inte integreras and den kan inte integreras?
While both essentially mean 'it cannot be integrated', the låter sig construction adds a subtle sense of inherent resistance, almost as if the module is stubbornly refusing to be integrated. It is a very natural, slightly more formal way to express that a task is impossible due to the very nature of the object.
Why is the negation inte placed after sig instead of directly after the verb låter?
In a Swedish main clause, unstressed object pronouns like sig usually squeeze in immediately after the finite verb, coming before sentence adverbs like inte. If you wrote den låter inte sig integreras, it would sound unnatural unless you were placing a heavy, contrastive emphasis on the word sig.
Why is the adjective kompatibel used here without a -t or -a ending?
