Questions & Answers about Din gamla ratt fungerar inte.
Why is it gamla instead of gammal if there is only one steering wheel?
After a possessive pronoun like din, Swedish adjectives must take their definite form. For most adjectives, this looks exactly like the plural form ending in -a. Note that gammal is slightly irregular, so it drops a few letters when it becomes gamla.
Can I use jobbar or arbetar here to mean "works"?
No, you need to use fungerar here. Jobbar and arbetar are used when a person or animal is doing labor or a job. When you want to say that a machine, object, or system is functioning correctly, you must use fungerar.
Why does inte go at the very end of this sentence?
In a main clause, the negation word inte goes immediately after the conjugated verb. Because the subject phrase Din gamla ratt is immediately followed by the verb fungerar, inte naturally falls at the end of the sentence.
