Questions & Answers about Vi ska lösa problemet inom en arbetsdag.
Since we are talking about how long it takes to do something, could we use på instead of inom here?
You could, but it changes the meaning slightly. Using på en arbetsdag means it will take one full workday of effort to solve it. Using inom en arbetsdag (within a workday) sets a deadline, meaning the problem will be solved anytime between now and the end of one workday.
Why is ska used here for the future instead of kommer att?
We use ska when expressing an intention, a promise, or a plan that the speaker controls. Since we are the ones who will actively solve the problem, ska fits perfectly as a promise. Kommer att is better for predictions or things outside of your control.
Problemet translates to the problem, but how would I say the problems in the plural?
The plural definite form is problemen. Remember that ett problem is an ett-word that ends in a consonant, so its indefinite plural is just problem. To make it definite plural, you add -en, becoming problemen.
Why is there an s in the middle of arbetsdag?
