Why is there no en before ingenjör?
Just like Swedish drops the article for general mass nouns, it also drops the article when stating a person's profession, nationality, or belief. You say Hon är ingenjör rather than Hon är en ingenjör. You only add the article back if you describe the profession with an adjective, for example: Hon är en skicklig ingenjör (She is a skilled engineer).
Why is it stolta and not just stolt?
Adjectives in Swedish must agree with the noun or pronoun they describe. Since the subject of the second clause is vi (we), which is plural, the base adjective stolt gets the plural -a ending.
Why do we use över instead of av for the English word 'of'?
Prepositions rarely translate word-for-word! The fixed Swedish expression for being 'proud of' someone is att vara stolt över someone. Trying to translate the English 'of' directly by using av would sound unnatural here.
