Questions & Answers about Min enorma moped är snabb.
Why does enorma end in an 'a' if moped doesn't have a definite ending?
This is the main rule for possessives! When you use a possessive word like min (my), any adjective that comes right after it must take its definite form, which usually means adding an -a. However, the noun itself stays in its basic indefinite form. So we say min enorma moped, not "min enorma mopeden".
Why is enorma in the definite form but snabb is not, since they both describe the same moped?
Location in the sentence matters! enorma comes right after the possessive min and directly before the noun, so it takes the definite -a ending. snabb comes after the verb är (is). Adjectives that come after a verb to describe the subject don't get triggered by the possessive min, so snabb stays in its basic indefinite form.
How would this sentence change if the noun were an ett-word, like tåg (train)?
You would change min to its ett-word form, mitt, and add a -t to the adjective snabb making it snabbt. However, enorma would still end in -a because the definite adjective form is the exact same for both en-words and ett-words! The new sentence would be: Mitt enorma tåg är snabbt.
