Learn Swedish: Han jobbar inte på morgonen. – Jo, det gör han faktiskt. - He doesn't work in the morning.

Jo is a special word for "yes" that you only use when contradicting a negative statement or answering a negative question. Because the first sentence includes the negative word inte (He doesn't work), the response must use jo to correct them and say "Yes, he does."

Why is the response det gör han instead of just han gör?

In Swedish, short answers often use det (that/it) to represent the action that was just talked about. Literally, it means "that does he". Because the sentence starts with det instead of the subject, the verb gör comes before the subject han to follow the V2 (verb-second) rule.

I always mix up morning expressions. Why is it på morgonen here?

På morgonen is used to talk about a habitual time of day, meaning "in the morning" or "in the mornings". Don't confuse it with imorgon (or i morgon), which means "tomorrow".

What does faktiskt add to the sentence?

Faktiskt means "actually" or "in fact". It is often used along with jo to politely but firmly emphasize that the negative statement was incorrect.
