Questions & Answers about Regissören som kommer att hjälpa oss är här.
What does som do in this sentence?
It translates to "who" or "that" and connects the extra information to the main sentence. In this sentence, som acts as the subject of the hidden mini-sentence "who will help us". It stands in for regissören (the director) so we don't have to repeat the word.
Why is the main verb är pushed all the way to the end?
The core of the sentence is simply Regissören är här (The director is here). Everything from som to oss is a relative clause tucked in the middle to describe the director. When reading, it helps to mentally group som kommer att hjälpa oss together as one descriptive block.
Why does the sentence use kommer att for "will" instead of ska?
kommer att is used for future events that are predictions or just statements of fact, much like "is going to" in English. ska usually implies a strong personal intention or promise. Using kommer att here just states the future action as a simple fact.
Why is it hjälpa and not the present tense hjälper?
The future marker kommer att is always followed by a verb in its infinitive (dictionary) form. Just like in English where we say "going to help" rather than "going to helps", Swedish uses the infinitive hjälpa here.
