Questions & Answers about Den här vintern kommer att bli kall.
Why do we use kommer att here to talk about the future?
We use kommer att to make a prediction about the future, especially for things we can't control, like the weather. It is always followed by a verb in its infinitive (dictionary) form, which in this case is bli.
Could I use vara (to be) instead of bli in this sentence?
It is much more natural to use bli (to become/turn into) when talking about future weather or conditions. While English says "will be", Swedish prefers kommer att bli because the cold is a state that will develop over the winter.
Why is the word for winter in the definite form (vintern) instead of just vinter?
In Swedish, whenever you use den här (this) or det här (this), the noun that follows must be in its definite ("the") form. Since vinter is an en-word, it becomes vintern to make den här vintern (this winter).
Why is the adjective kall and not kallt?
