Questions & Answers about ¿Cuál es tu profesión?
Why does this sentence use Cuál instead of Qué for "What"?
Even though we say "What is..." in English, Spanish uses ¿Cuál es...? when asking for a specific piece of information from a large group of possibilities (like names, phone numbers, or professions). If you asked ¿Qué es tu profesión?, a native speaker would think you are asking for the dictionary definition of the word "profession".
Why isn't there an accent mark on tu?
Without an accent mark, tu is the possessive adjective meaning "your" (tu profesión = your profession). If it had an accent (tú), it would mean the subject pronoun "you".
Is profesión a masculine or feminine word?
