Keeping at it with seguir
To express that you "keep doing" or "continue doing" something, use the verb seguir followed by a gerund (the -ando or -iendo form of a verb).
| I keep studying at the university. | Yo sigo estudiando en la universidad. |
| We keep moving forward on the project. | Seguimos avanzando en el proyecto. |
Persisting through challenges
Seguir has an e to i stem change in the present tense (sigo, sigues, sigue, siguen), except for the nosotros form (seguimos).
| She keeps overcoming those obstacles. | Ella sigue superando esos obstáculos. |
| The path is difficult, but you must keep trying. | El camino es difícil, pero debes seguir intentando. |
Pronoun placement
Object pronouns (like me, te, or lo) can go before the conjugated form of seguir or attach directly to the end of the gerund. When attaching them to the gerund, add an accent mark to maintain the original stress!
| My family keeps supporting me along the way. | Mi familia me sigue apoyando en el camino. |
| He always keeps helping me with the project. | Él siempre sigue ayudándome con el proyecto. |
