Questions & Answers about ¿Disfrutaron el almuerzo ayer?
Why does the verb end in -aron here?
The word ayer (yesterday) means the action is completely finished, so we need the preterite (past) tense. Disfrutaron is the preterite form of the regular verb disfrutar (to enjoy) for ustedes (you all) or ellos/ellas (they).
There is no subject pronoun like ustedes in this sentence. How do we know who enjoyed the lunch?
Why is it el almuerzo instead of just almuerzo?
In English, we usually leave out the word 'the' when talking about meals. In Spanish, you almost always need to include the definite article (el or la) before meals like el desayuno (breakfast), el almuerzo (lunch), and la cena (dinner).
