Questions & Answers about Luego vamos al restaurante.
Why does the sentence use al instead of a el?
The translation says 'we are going', but I don't see the word for 'we'. Where is it?
Doesn't vamos just mean 'we go'? Why is it translated as 'we are going' here?
In Spanish, the simple present tense covers a few different English meanings. Depending on the context, vamos can mean 'we go', 'we do go', or 'we are going'. Because of the word luego (later), 'we are going' sounds the most natural in English.
I know luego from the phrase hasta luego (see you later). Can it also mean 'then'?
Yes! Luego is a very common word that means 'later' or 'then' (as in what happens next). Here, translating it as 'Then we are going to the restaurant' would also be perfectly correct.
