Questions & Answers about У нас есть хороший план кампании, даже если они отменят митинг.
Why does this sentence use the future tense отменят instead of the subjunctive with бы?
The conjunction даже если (even if) is used here with the future indicative (отменят) because the cancellation of the rally is seen as a real possibility in the future. If we were talking about a purely imaginary situation or an unlikely hypothetical, we would use the subjunctive: даже если бы они отменили (even if they were to cancel).
Why is it spelled кампании with an "а" instead of an "о"?
In Russian, кампания (with an "a") refers to a specific campaign, like a political, military, or advertising campaign. Компания (with an "o") means a business company or a group of friends. They sound identical when spoken due to vowel reduction, but the spelling completely changes the meaning!
Does митинг mean the same thing as "meeting" in English?
Not exactly. Although it is borrowed from the English word, in Russian митинг almost exclusively means a political rally, protest, or mass public demonstration. If you are talking about a standard business meeting, you should use собрание or встреча.
Why is отменят in the perfective aspect here?
Отменят (they will cancel) is perfective because it describes a single, definitive action with a concrete result. The speakers are preparing for the moment the rally is officially called off, not the ongoing process of people trying to cancel it.
