Questions & Answers about Я метеоролог, и мне будет интересно делать прогноз.
Why is it мне будет интересно instead of я буду интересный?
In Russian, expressing how someone feels about a situation is often done with an impersonal construction. The person experiencing the feeling takes the dative case (мне meaning "to me"), followed by the neuter future verb будет ("it will be"), and an adverb (интересно). Literally, it translates to "to me it will be interesting."
Does the verb будет change if more people are involved, like "it will be interesting to us"?
No, it stays exactly the same. Because this is an impersonal sentence, there is no grammatical subject for the verb to agree with. The verb remains frozen in the 3rd-person singular neuter form будет, so "it will be interesting to us" is simply нам будет интересно.
Why does the verb делать (to do/make) stay in the infinitive here?
When you use an impersonal expression like мне будет интересно to describe an action, you just attach the infinitive of the verb to show what action is interesting. You do not conjugate it because the impersonal structure already establishes who feels this way and in what tense.
Why doesn't the word прогноз (forecast) change its ending?
It actually is in the accusative case here because it is the direct object of the verb делать (to make a forecast). However, because прогноз is an inanimate masculine noun ending in a consonant, its accusative form looks exactly the same as its dictionary (nominative) form.
Why use the imperfective verb делать instead of the perfective сделать?
The speaker is talking about the general process or routine of making forecasts as part of their job as a meteorologist, rather than focusing on successfully completing one specific, isolated forecast. For general processes, ongoing activities, or routines, Russian uses the imperfective aspect.
