Questions & Answers about Băncile noi sunt pe această stradă.

How do we get băncile from the dictionary word for bank?
The base word is bancă (a feminine noun). First, we make it plural by changing the ending: bănci (banks). Then, to say "the" banks, we add the feminine plural ending -le, giving us băncile.
I thought noi meant "we". Why is it translated as "new" here?
You are right that noi is the pronoun "we", but it is also the plural form of the adjective nou (new). You can easily tell it means "new" here because it comes right after a noun (băncile) to describe it.
Why is it această stradă? Doesn't the word for "this" usually end in an "a"?
The word for "this" changes slightly depending on where it sits. When it comes before a feminine noun, it is această, dropping the final "a". If you want to put it after the noun, you use aceasta, but the noun must also take "the" at the end: strada aceasta. Both phrases mean "this street".
Why do we use the word pe here?
Pe is the standard Romanian preposition for "on" a surface. Just like in English, you describe things as being "on" a street (pe stradă).
