### Emphasizing "Not Any" with *Qualquer*

When discussing the finer details of wine, you sometimes need to be absolute: a vintage doesn't just lack an aroma, it lacks *any* aroma whatsoever. In Portuguese, one way to emphasize a negative statement is by using the word *qualquer* in a sentence that already contains a negative word (like *não*).

To mean "any whatsoever", place *qualquer* directly **before** the noun. Notice that *qualquer* has the exact same form for both masculine and feminine nouns.

### Emphatic Negation with *Nenhum*

Another way to create this strong emphasis ("none at all") is by using *nenhum* (or its feminine form, *nenhuma*). 

However, there is a strict rule for its placement: to make the negation emphatic, *nenhum* must go directly **after** the noun. Because it acts as an adjective, remember to match its gender to the noun it follows!
