Taka is a strong verb. For strong verbs, the supine (sagnbót) usually ends in -ið. It also often involves a vowel shift from the infinitive form. Here, the a in taka changes to e, giving us tekið. You use this form after the helping verb hafa (here as hef) to say you have done something.

Why is the object farangurinn in the accusative case?

The verb taka (to take) forces the object being taken into the accusative case. Farangur (luggage) is a masculine noun. Because the accusative of many masculine nouns looks exactly like the nominative dictionary form, the noun itself doesn't seem to change. However, when we add the definite article (the) to make it farangurinn, it is acting as the accusative object.

Why do we use inn á instead of just í for into?
