Questions & Answers about Jeg reiser til stasjonen nå.

Why do we say stasjonen instead of stasjon here?

In Norwegian, nouns form the definite article by adding a suffix. Stasjon is indefinite (a station), and stasjonen is definite (the station). Since you’re talking about a specific station, you use stasjonen.

Why is it til stasjonen instead of some other preposition?

Til in Norwegian generally means "to" and indicates movement toward a location. It’s the most natural preposition for traveling or going to a place, similar to "to" in English.

Could I say Jeg drar til stasjonen nå instead of Jeg reiser til stasjonen nå?

Yes. Reiser often implies a trip or journey (it can suggest more formality or a longer distance), while drar is a bit more general. Both are correct in this context, but drar might sound more casual in everyday speech.

Is nå always placed at the end of the sentence in Norwegian?

Not necessarily. You can say Nå reiser jeg til stasjonen or Jeg reiser til stasjonen nå. Norwegian word order is flexible, but placing nå at the end emphasizes the time aspect, making it clear that the action is happening immediately.
