Why is the verb "has" translated as hat instead of following the normal ending rules like "habt"?
The verb haben (to have) is slightly irregular in the present tense. Instead of keeping the "b" from the stem for the he/she/it form, it drops it. Since das Kind (the child) acts as an "it", we use hat instead of "habt".
The English translation says "is learning", but the German sentence uses lernt. Where is the word for "is"?
