Why is the pronoun at the end of douche-toi?
This is the rule for giving affirmative commands (telling someone to do something) with reflexive verbs. The pronoun moves after the verb and is attached with a hyphen. Plus, the normal pronoun te changes to the stressed form toi!
Why do enlève and douche lack an "s" at the end if they are commands for "tu"?
Normally, present tense tu forms end in "s" (tu enlèves, tu te douches). But for regular verbs ending in -er, you must drop that final -s when giving a command to a single person.
What if I wanted to tell the person NOT to shower? Would it be ne douche-toi pas?
No, the rule changes for negative commands! If you tell someone NOT to do something, the pronoun stays in front of the verb and goes back to being te. You would say ne te douche pas.
Why is it ce peignoir and not cet peignoir?
Peignoir is a masculine word that starts with a consonant, so we use ce for "this". You only use cet before masculine words that start with a vowel or a silent "h" (like cet animal or cet homme).
