Questions & Answers about J'ai vu un beau paysage.
Why is it J'ai vu and not just Je vu?
In French, the past tense (Passé Composé) needs two parts: a helper verb and a past participle. Here, the helper verb is ai (I have) and the past participle is vu (seen). Literally, it translates to: I have seen.
Which verb does the word vu come from?
vu is the irregular past participle of the verb voir (to see). Because it is irregular, it does not follow the standard ending patterns, so you just have to memorize it!
Why is beau placed before paysage? Don't French adjectives usually go after the noun?
