Questions & Answers about Rakastan tätä rauhaa, koska mikään ei häiritse minua.
Why is the phrase for 'nothing' ordered as mikään ei here instead of ei mikään?
When 'nothing' is the subject doing the action, mikään comes before the negative verb ei. If it were the object of the sentence, you would typically see ei first, followed by the verb and then mikään. Here, 'nothing' is the thing doing the disturbing, so the order is mikään ei häiritse.
Why is the phrase for 'this peace' in the partitive case (tätä rauhaa)?
The verb rakastaa (to love) is a verb of emotion. In Finnish, the object of an emotion verb must always be in the partitive case because feelings are treated as continuous, ongoing states.
Why is the verb form häiritse instead of häiritsee?
After the negative word ei, the main verb is always in the negative form, which drops the personal ending. So, häiritsee (disturbs) becomes ei häiritse (doesn't disturb).
Why is the word for 'me' in the partitive case (minua)?
The verb häiritä (to disturb) always takes a partitive object. This is because disturbing someone is considered an ongoing action without a clear, finished result, so the object being disturbed (minua) takes the partitive ending.
