Questions & Answers about Me näytämme uuden talon asiakkaalle.
How do we get asiakkaalle from the basic word asiakas?
Asiakkaalle is in the allative case, which adds the ending -lle to mean 'to' or 'onto'. To add endings, we first need the word's stem. For words ending in -kas, the stem changes to -kkaa-. So asiakas becomes the stem asiakkaa-, and we add -lle to get asiakkaalle (to the customer).
Why is the object uuden talon instead of uusi talo?
Because the house is the object of the action (the thing being shown). In Finnish, when an action is complete and covers the whole object, we often add the -n ending. The adjective uusi (new) must match the noun it describes, so it also takes the -n form, becoming uuden.
Why does the verb näytämme only have one 't' when the dictionary form is näyttää?
This is due to consonant gradation. When we add the 'we' ending -mme, it closes the last syllable. A closed syllable forces a strong double consonant (tt) to drop a letter and become a weak single consonant (t).
Can we change the word order to Me näytämme asiakkaalle uuden talon?
