Both ghand-dan and chay-dan end in -dan. Is this a standard suffix for containers?

By attaching it to ghand (sugar cube) and chay (tea), you get sugar bowl and tea caddy. Other common examples you will see are namak-dan (salt shaker) and gol-dan (flower vase).
Why is there a half-space (zero-width non-joiner) in chay-dan but not in ghand-dan?
