Questions & Answers about شما خودتان باید افکار مثبت دربارهی تواناییهایتان داشته باشید.
How does the word khodetân work with shomâ in this sentence?
This is the emphatic use of khod (self). By attaching the possessive ending -tân (your) to khod and placing it right after the subject shomâ (you), it emphasizes the subject: "You yourselves."
I know the word for "thought" is fekr. Why is it written as afkâr here?
afkâr is a "broken plural" borrowed from Arabic. Instead of adding a standard Farsi plural suffix like -hâ (which would be fekrhâ), the word's internal vowels change to make it plural. Both fekrhâ and afkâr are correct, but afkâr is very common and sounds natural in this context.
Why are there so many suffixes at the end of tavânâyi-hâ-yatân (your abilities)?
It is a stack of three parts! The base noun is tavânâyi (ability). First, we make it plural with -hâ (abilities). Finally, we attach the possessive ending -tân (your). Because -hâ ends in a vowel, a "y" sound is inserted as a bridge to make pronunciation easier, resulting in the ending -yatân.
Why is the verb at the end dâshte bâshid instead of just dârid (you have)?
The word bâyad (must) forces the verb that follows it into the subjunctive mood. Most verbs form the subjunctive by adding the prefix be-, but the verb "to have" is a major exception. Its subjunctive is formed using its past participle (dâshte) followed by the subjunctive forms of "to be" (in this case, bâshid for "you").
