Why is there a visible break between 'ham' and 'kelâsi' in the Farsi text (هم‌کلاسی)?

In modern written Farsi, prefixes like ham- (and verb prefixes like mi-) are usually separated from the main word by a "half-space" (a zero-width non-joiner). This prevents the letters from physically attaching to each other, making compound words easier to read than if they were connected as a single block.

Why is there an extra '-ye' sound connecting the plural to the pronoun in hamkelâsi-hâ-ye man?

The plural suffix -hâ ends in the vowel â. When you connect a word ending in a vowel to its possessor using the ezâfe (the grammatical "of" connector), you must add a y sound to bridge the vowels. So, instead of just adding the standard -e sound, it becomes -ye: hamkelâsi-hâ-ye man (classmates of mine).
