How does raft o âmad translate to "commuting"?
It is a compound noun made from the past stems of the verbs for "to go" (raft) and "to come" (âmad), linked by o (and). Literally "went and came", it is the standard Farsi term for "commuting", "traffic", or "coming and going".
Why does the Farsi sentence use dar (in) for "on holidays"?
In English, we use "on" for days. However, Farsi consistently uses dar (in) when talking about events happening during a specific day or period, such as dar ruz-hâ-ye ta'til (in the holidays).
Why is there an ezâfe linking ruz-hâ and ta'til?
The word ta'til acts as an adjective here, describing the days. The ezâfe (-ye after a vowel) links the plural noun ruz-hâ (days) to its modifier, making the phrase literally translate to "days of holiday" or "closed days".
Doesn't râhat usually mean "comfortable"?
Yes, râhat is commonly used for "comfortable", but it also frequently means "easy" or "hassle-free" when describing situations, tasks, or actions like commuting.
