Questions & Answers about خانه را تمیز میکنیم.
Where is the word for "we" in this sentence?
In Farsi, you don't always need to say the subject pronoun like ما (we). The ending of the verb, -یم in میکنیم (we do/make), already tells us who is doing the action. So, adding the word ما at the beginning is completely optional!
What does the word را do in this sentence?
The word را is a marker that comes right after a specific direct object. Because we are talking about cleaning "the" house (a specific house), we put را right after خانه (house). If we were talking about cleaning just "a" house in general, we wouldn't use را.
Why is the verb for "clean" written as two separate words (تمیز میکنیم)?
This is called a compound verb, which is a very common pattern in Farsi! Instead of a single word for "to clean", Farsi combines the adjective تمیز (clean) with the verb کردن (to do / to make). So, تمیز میکنیم literally translates to "we make clean."
Why does the verb come at the very end of the sentence?
Farsi sentences generally follow a Subject-Object-Verb word order. Even though the subject (we) is hidden in the verb ending, the object خانه را (the house) must come before the verb phrase تمیز میکنیم (clean / make clean).
