Questions & Answers about این دایناسورهای عظیم فقط روی چهار پا دویدهاند.
Why does the sentence use the Present Perfect tense (دویدهاند) when talking about extinct dinosaurs? Shouldn't it be Simple Past?
This is the inferential use of the Present Perfect. Because the speaker was not alive to see the dinosaurs run, they are reporting a fact based on evidence (like fossils or scientific research). In Farsi, you often use the Present Perfect for historical facts or past events you didn't witness directly, even though we naturally translate it as the simple past 'ran' in English.
Why is این (this) used instead of a plural word when talking about 'these' dinosaurs?
In Farsi, demonstrative adjectives like این (this) and آن (that) always stay in their singular form when they come right before a noun. Even though the noun دایناسورها is plural, the modifier pointing to it does not become plural.
Why is the word پا (leg) singular when the sentence says 'four legs'?
In Farsi grammar, whenever you use a specific number greater than one, the noun that follows it must remain singular. So it is always چهار پا (literally 'four leg'), never چهار پاها.
Why is there a ی added to the end of دایناسورها?
This is the ezafe, which links the noun دایناسورها (dinosaurs) to the adjective عظیم (huge). Because the plural suffix ها ends in a vowel sound, the ezafe takes the form of the letter ی to make it easier to pronounce smoothly.
