Questions & Answers about کارگرها هنوز کاشیها را نصب نکردهاند.
How exactly is the negative present perfect formed in the verb نصب نکردهاند?
It comes from the compound verb نصب کردن (to install). To make it negative present perfect, we take the past participle of the helper verb, which is کرده (karde), and add the negative prefix نـ (na-). Finally, we add the short ending for 'they', which is اند (-and). The first part of the compound verb (نصب) stays exactly the same.
Why is there an 'alef' (the letter ا) in the middle of نکردهاند?
The short ending اند (-and) starts with an 'alef'. When we attach it to a past participle that ends in a silent 'h' (like کرده), we keep the 'alef' to act as a bridge between the vowels. So it is written as نکردهاند but spoken as a single connected unit (nakarde-and).
Why does the word هنوز (yet) come so early in the sentence, instead of at the end like in English?
In Farsi, adverbs of time like هنوز generally appear near the beginning of the sentence, often right after the subject (کارگرها). Unlike English, Farsi strongly prefers to keep the main verb at the very end of the sentence, so time words almost never go there.
As a quick refresher, why do we need the word را after کاشیها?
را is the specific direct object marker. Because the sentence is about specific tiles ('the tiles' as opposed to just 'some tiles' in general), we must add را right after کاشیها to show they are the direct target of the workers' installation.
