Questions & Answers about این بازیگر بیشترین نمره را گرفت.

How does بیشترین mean "highest" or "most" here?
The normal Farsi word for "much" or "many" is زیاد or بسیار. Its comparative form is irregular: instead of adding the usual suffix to the base, it becomes بیشتر (more). To make it a superlative (the most), we add the -in suffix to get بیشترین. In English, "the most score" sounds unnatural, so we translate it as "the highest score."
Why does بیشترین come before نمره (score)? Don't adjectives usually go after the noun?
Regular adjectives do come after the noun and are linked to it using the "ezafe" (an "e" sound). However, superlative adjectives—those ending in -tarin meaning "the most"—are a major exception! They always come before the noun they describe, and they do not use the ezafe link.
Why do we need the word را after the score?
The word را marks the specific, definite direct object of a sentence. Because the actor didn't just get any random score, but specifically got "the highest score", the phrase بیشترین نمره is definite. Therefore, it requires را right after it, just before the verb.
What is the base form of the verb گرفت?
It comes from the infinitive گرفتن, which can mean "to take", "to get", or "to catch". گرفت is the third-person singular past tense form, meaning "he/she/it got".
