شاید مدیر پرواز را تغییر دهد.

From Lesson 44:Might (shâyad)·Farsi

Questions & Answers about شاید مدیر پرواز را تغییر دهد.

Why doesn't شاید (shâyad) have a personal ending to match "the manager"?
شاید (shâyad) is an impersonal word (meaning "might" or "maybe"). This means it never changes its form, no matter who the subject of the sentence is. Only the main verb at the end of the sentence takes a personal ending to match the subject.
I thought the subjunctive usually starts with be-. Why is it missing from تغییر دهد (taghyir dehad)?
تغییر دادن (taghyir dâdan, to change) is a compound verb, made of a noun and the verb دادن (dâdan, to give). Normally, the be- prefix goes on the verb part, making تغییر بدهد (taghyir bedehad). However, in modern Farsi, native speakers very frequently drop the be- prefix from compound verbs in the subjunctive. Both taghyir bedehad and taghyir dehad are correct!
Why is را () used right after پرواز (parvâz)?
را () is the definite direct object marker. Because the sentence refers to changing the flight (a specific flight) rather than just a flight, must be placed immediately after the noun پرواز (parvâz, flight).
What does the verb part دهد (dehad) actually mean on its own?
It is the "he/she" present subjunctive form of دادن (dâdan), which literally means "to give". Many Farsi verbs are compound verbs built by combining a noun with a simple verb like dâdan. Here, تغییر دادن (taghyir dâdan) literally translates to "to give change".
