Why does the word for "in front of" end with a "ye" sound?
The base word for "front" is jolou. When we use spatial words to say something is "in front of", "under", or "next to" another object, we must connect them using the Ezafe. Because jolou ends in a vowel sound (ou), the connecting Ezafe is pronounced as -ye rather than just -e.
Why is there another Ezafe after panjareh (window)?
You can chain Ezafes together! The first one connects the position to the object (jolou-ye panjareh, in front of the window). The second one connects the window to the house to show possession (panjareh-ye khâneh, the window of the house). Together, this chain creates "in front of the house's window".
