Questions & Answers about ماشین اینجا هست.
Why does this sentence use hast instead of ast for the word "is"?
We use hast when we want to talk about where something is located or to say that something exists. Since we are saying the car is located here, hast is the perfect choice. We normally use ast just to connect a noun to a description, like saying the car is red.
Where is the word for "the" in mâšin?
Farsi doesn't have a direct translation for the definite article "the". A noun on its own, like mâšin, is usually understood as "the car" based on context. If we wanted to say "a car", we would add a word like yek (one) before it or an -i at the end.
injâ means "here", but what are its root parts?
injâ is a combination of two smaller words you probably already know: in meaning "this", and jâ meaning "place". So it literally translates to "this place"!
Why is the verb hast at the very end of the sentence?
In Farsi, the main verb almost always goes at the very end of the sentence. The subject mâšin comes first, followed by the location injâ, and finally the verb hast closes the thought.
